Here's a great example with
InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ:IACI) on
Yahoo:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=IACI&a=07&b=1&c=2005&d=07&e=30&f=2005&g=d
First thing to note is that they showed an $11.25 cash dividend.
In fact, this was a capital event where IAC spun off
Expedia.
Second thing to note is the "adjusted close" before and after the
event. If you use Yahoo data, the stock appears to have gapped down $12
whereas, if they had worked out the corporate action correctly.
the
"adjusted close" on 8th Oct should have been $28.10 _NOT_
$39.35.
Apparent small errors like this make a tremendous impact on a
historical database... beware of data vendors that don't pay meticulous care
with their data.
Best regards,
Richard
Dale.
