How many symbols are in the folder giving you problems? In case you don't
know, an easy way to check, open Windows Explorer and browse to the folder
in question. Click on it (the folder name) and in the lower left hand
corner, it should show the number of objects in the folder. Usually the
number of symbols will be this number minus 2 (master and emaster).
Also do you see any files starting with tilde ( ~ ) at the top of the list
of files? If you do, delete them. They are temporary files that MetaStock
occasionally leaves in error. Also, within the same folder, do you see a
folder named MSSmart. If you do, delete this also.
One way or another, you will not have to recreate your work. The things I
mention above are the most likely problem areas, but no matter what it is,
it can be fixed. Just have to find it.
Best,

Subject: [EquisMetaStock Group] Problem with Downloader
I'm running MS Pro 7.2 on Win XP Sp2 and having issues importing data.
I've been running my system for about 3 years, and not had too many
issues, and all of a sudden some files are updating, others aren't. If
I check the source files, there is def data there, dates are all
correct, and there is no reason why within the same folder some would
update and others wouldn't. If I create a new folder and try importing
into that - works fine - of course that doesn't help much for collating
data, when I've got systems and indicators in place which would
literally take months to set up again. In the importing process - it
only comes up with two errors being new shares which it can't create a
new file (apparantley it thinks it's updating all the other files). To
experiment, I tried creating new securities within the same folder
using the downloader, and it came up with errors and couldn't do it.
The data is stored on an NTFS volume and I do have security permissions
to read and write - ie not read only attributes set.
However there is almost 5 gig of free space there, so the only thing
think I can think of is that MS has a limit with it's database - but
that doesn't really make sense either. Not really keen to pay to
upgrade to the latest version unless it's going to make a HUGE
difference - as until this happened, it was doing everything I needed. Help
please??
