XP pro has very nice feature called restore points.  Go Accessories -> System tools -> System restore.

Restore to the earlier date when the software was still working.  If you've removed the software reinstall it.

Hi, I like the SW when it was working, but won't run anymore, I am
really baffled as to why, and I've tried uninstalling/installing all
the various versions ED Killingsworth has provided. Anyone else
experiencing similiar or have better alternatives? Any SysAdmins want
to log on to my system and implement better security templates,
permissions?  Thanks
