Metastock v7.2 supports 2000 securities per
folder.
Metastock v8.0 and v9.0 supports 6000 securities per
folder.
Functionally there's no difference between the two
formats. Somejust at Equis just changed the 2000 to 6000 and it worked
:-)
If there's less than 2000 securities then both can read it
fine. If there's above 2000 then Metastock v7.2 and below will not see
security # 2001 onwards.

There is no difference (to my
knowledge) between 7.2 and 8 data formats. And in any case, the higher version
should be able to read the lower version formats.
Maybe Richard Dale can throw light
on this.
