andrew, if you are using 2 differet parameters i 
insist that you also take a look at system tester. i know the big gus here dot 
like optimization much : ) but if you allow for many optimization variables and 
and include short as long as long intervals you may observe very very 
interesting results which may inspire you and take you to different places, such 
as molvania :) 
  
what im currently doing is investing in SAS. im 
just a poor PhD studet and spend about 90-100 hrs/week at the office. we SAS to 
manipulate our data, so i have to invest in it anyways. i may design some tests 
afterwards in sas. maybe some of you have heard, a norandom walk down the wall 
street. it is a very well known study in academia and thats concetrated on 
trading. they have used SAS in their tests.
