It's only necessary to delete existing smart charts so that MetaStock is forced to create a new
smart chart from the new default template. Securities that have not been opened previously, and
therefore have no existing smart chart, will automatically have a chart created from the new default
template when first opened.
Any chart can be used to create a new default template simply by right clicking in an open area of
the chart and selecting "Save as Default Template". Of course the chart to be used for this purpose
should have all the appropriate indicators and inner windows set up as required before this action
is taken. Once the new default template is created (by overwriting the old default template) it is
used to create new charts. Existing smart charts continue to be available to MetaStock until
deliberately deleted.
Existing smart charts can be deleted by deleting the contents of all MSSmart folders, or the folders
themselves. These folders are found one level below your MetaStock data files. DO NOT delete any
data files
Your default template, and other templates such as CLEAN.MWT are found in the CHARTS folder, one
level below the METASTOCK folder.
You can manually create a backup copy of your existing default template, DEFAULT.MWT, before
overwriting a new default template.
