Re: [Metastockusers] How to fix the Trailing Stop in the systems tester

In my humble opinion the odds of making progress with Equis are slim to
none.
They have not added any capabilities for the serious system developer/trader
since at least v7.0.
Their target market is clearly no longer the serious system
developer/trader. They are targetting the TC2000 market, make it simple,
sell the data, sell add-ons.
That market is far larger than the system developer/serious trader. I
believe they have made a conscious decison to leave that to the
Tradestations, eSignals, Wealthlabs, and yes, Amibrokers of the world.

Go back 4 years and you will see that many if not most of the heavy duty
wizards that existed back then have left (most to Amibroker). Pop over
there and you will see lots of posts by heavy hitters that used to post
here. That is not to say that there are still not wizards here, but there
sure are a lot fewer of them.

I personally still use it, but am getting increasingly frustrating. I'm
frustrated that the language has had no upgrades. I can still to lots of
stuff with it, but am most frustrated with the database bug that causes the
system tester to crash after the the database size reaches a certain size.
To me that is just unconscionable in this day and age. I have a big, fast
machine. If I want to make a run on 50 years of data with lots of
optimizations and say 100,000 runs, I should be able to do that if I'm
willing to suffer the time. But that is impossible. Since 8.0 I can't do
runs with more than about 600-700 optimizations if I use 4-5 years of data.

Well, enough venting. Just had to export all system tests, clean out the
database, reload Metastock, and now I'm good to go for another few weeks.
