There are a lot of discussions around here on people feeling picked
by someone else, right?
Well I think this needs some clarification.
First let's talk about the purpose of this group. In my opinion it's
idea is about Metastock users helping Metastock users. There is an
exchange of ideas surrounding the whole topic of trading and what
belongs to it seems to be quite normal as MS is a charting software.
It seems to be also quite normal that most of the new users are
confrontade with the same problems since the learning process is
often the same at the very beginning. At least that's what I can tell
from my experience.
Now it starts to get more delicate. This forum has a search function.
If I do have a question that seems to me so basic that it possibly
already was answered this is the point where I start digging. Well,
you even can use a tool like google to do a more general search that
is not focused so narrowly on this group. I found quite a lot of
answers this way. Am I asking to much of new members to start their
own search in a similar manner? Yes I know when you are sitting in
front of your computer it is for most of us an easier way to just hit
the keyboard instead of digging through let's say one hundred hits
fond by google (Hint: if you use google in an intelligent way, it
reduces the numers of hits significantly). So I'd agree to call some
of the questions are just posted by people who don't want to do the
work by themself buth rather hope to get it the easy way. These
people I'd not hesitate calling them being lazy in mind.
If it is asked to much to read first in the manual or the online help
my opinion is that the effort put in the search for an answer is much
to small.
Next, there is the company that you bought Metastock from: Equis. On
Equis' website can be found another tool of great value: the formula
primer.
What I try to explain is nothing else than that there can be found
answers on much the same place you are when accessing this group: the
world wide web. So many of the basics don't deserve to be asked on
the group over and over again. You get the point.
Some still dream of the money lying on the streets and just needs to
be picked up. It's not that way, wether you are a trader or are in
any other business. Being a trader is not different from any other
profession - the greater the effort you put in the better the chances
of a positive result. Instead of putting your energy in picking,
better invest it in your trading education. Learn to answer your
simple questions by yourself. Try to solve more difficult problems
first by yourself. Then post the result of your work to the group,
ask your question and learn from the answers. All pro's started as
amateurs, keep this always in mind.
Ok, now you can start pickin on me. But don't worry I can stand it. ;-
