Make sure the weight if the line drawing the candlestick is the thinnest available (right click on any candle and choose properties - "Weight" selection is at the bottom of the selection).  Also, and perhaps more obvious, in the lower right hand corner of the MetaStock program screen are two little circles, one with a plus and the other with a minus inside.  Click on the "plus" to adjust the number of candles displayed in the chart window (x axis).
