I use Lind-Waldock (a Refco company) for futures and have a piece of
software that they provide free (Lind Express) which accepts trades
electronically. You can also "park" orders to have them all ready to
execute and simply move them from park to active with a mouse click. The
software provides much more than order processing and has been improved
considerably within the past few months. It also has a quotes function
that gives you real time quotes (up to 40 predefined quotes at a time or a
single quote in a separate window) and makes the trading day easier even
though I make most of my decisions EOD.
MS has a trading tool bar which appears to have the genesis of
ordering buried in it, but have never tried it and don't know if it's ever been
up to speed. Don't know if that's been improved in 9.0 or not.

Please don't flame me: Metastock Alternatives???
Funny you mention about automating trades....Refco futures just unveiled
their automated system on the Forex. A friend purchased it for $4,000.00
and doesn't know the merits of it. Metastock, as far as I know, will not
do automating trading but I think you may have to buy a
separate software or get someone to program it for you. Either way, it ain't
gonna be cheap
