Most people probably haven’t
responded because it can be MANY things;  None of which are related to Metastock.

 

Sounds like a software issue.  For starters,
where all Windows related programs closed when installing the Security Update? 
………..things like that.

Try reinstalling Windows with it’s
repair feature, then defragging, the rebooting.   Stuff that will get the CPU
thinking in order of importance.

 

I’ve learned these lesson the hard
way!
