Hi everyone
I've been using Metastock primarily to develop custom indicators.
Recently, I decided to shift my focus to systems development. I tried
to write a few simple systems and test them (I have v 8.0).
Unfortunately, I was getting some weird results - when I asked
Metastock to generate a chart which shows the entry and exit points
specified by my systems, there were some incorrect results. I called
MS and the tech I spoke to basically told me that there are certain
bugs in the system, and that I should try to unclick the 'Use
Realistic Market Prices' box. I tried this but MS started to shut
down when I tried to execute a New Simualtion - I got that familiar
message that says something like 'MSWIN has generated errors and will
be shut down'.
So then I tried to re-click the 'Realistic Market Prices' box and set
things the way they were to start with, but the system Tester now
seems to be stuck in a mode in which it is unable to carry out
operations. My questions are obvious -the main one is this - I know a
lot of people use MS to create custom indicators and very complex
formulae - I have seen and benefitted from the work of Jose Silva and
Roy Larsen. Does anyone use MS as a system development tool, and if
so, what are their experiences with inaccurate results? Do I just
have the wrong version? Do earlier versions function normally? Is
there a fix available? The tech I spoke to didn't really say anything
like 'What version do you have.... ok, here is your solution'.
To be very specific, two common problems are this - in one instance,
MS simply closes every trade generated on the next bar. In another
instance, MS closed trades when no close signal was generated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank, Nikku
