I had a system test that crashed and locked up my System Tester a couple of days ago. In contacting Equis Support they suggested that with the Organizer in the Indicator Builder that I export all my formulas, explorations, etc., to a backup folder and reinstall MetaStock. I tried that, and when I tried to open Organizer, it would crash MetaStock. Tried each of the above several times with nothing but MetaStock crashes which would sometimes crash Win XP. I mentioned to Equis Support that I had copied the MetaStock folder (under program files\equis) to my second hard drive about a week ago. They then told me to go into my bad MetaStock folder and delete all ST_DTA files, and then copy my backup MetaStock folder over it, rewriting over the erroneous folder. It worked. Cleared up all of my problems.
The first thing I did after restoring MetaStock was to export all of my formulas, etc., to a backup folder. Guess the message is to backup often. If you can't backup your entire MetaStock folder, then at least export all of your formulas, explorations, and systems tests to a backup folder as that won't take much room. If you have to reinstall you can then always import all of that stuff back.
