your database  for instance:

then in the 
downloader  click on  tools,convert  and destination like

  I'm new to Metastock.  Please help with explaining how 
  to update a symbol.  eg. XXXX change to XXXY.O .  How should

  download get the message the stock doesn't exist.  So then I enter it 
  as XXXY and the next download get the message the symbol has changed to 
  XXXX.  Changing it back to XXXX, on the next download I get the 
  message the symbol has changed to XXXY.O.  What is the correct way of
