I use MS as an End of Day program. I need data from someplace. I find
the cost ot TC2K reasonable. I use their proprietary indicators - Money
Stream, Time segmented volume, and BOP in a limited way. I can send
ticker lists back and forth between the two programs. Some here may
suggest that QP2 is a better choice to use in conjunction with MS. I
have no real argument with them. Software is a tool. If you need the
tool to do what you want, then you get that software.

Many people don't quite know what they need or want until an issue comes
up that they can't solve with what they have. I include myself in that
group. If you want to do a For...Next loop, you will likely turn to QP2
or perhaps AmiBroker. If you find the proprietary indicators useful, and
like flagging and sorting as ticker universe reduction techniques, then
TC2k is a good choice. Others like Investor RT for its feature set.
Still others TradeStation. The list can go on and on.

When I've had occasion to speak at some investment SIGs, I've suggested
that the combination of TC2K with MS for EOD users provided quite a bang
for the buck. Those who have taken that suggestion seem to be pleased
with the choice. It certainly will provide the tools one needs to find
out what one "really" needs. It may be the case that you need nothing
further. I believe MS is about $450 for the EOD program. That's a one
time expense. TC2K data costs about $20/month for 20 minute delayed
data. For me that's a high value combination.

I think that making some software choice, probing what that software can
and can't do, evaluating that in light of what your needs are is an
ongoing process. It is part of the fun I have in trading. I have barely
scratched the surface of what the program can do. Yet I sure wish they
had added a looping capability.... ;-)
