Hi:

I've never used the default template, but it could be that this file is a read only file and can't be modified.  If this is the case you can get around this by finding the file (mine is under: c:\program files\equis\metastock\charts\) with Windows Explorer and right click on it and choose properties.  If the "Read Only" box is checked, uncheck it so that it can be modified.

I just checked mine and mine isn't marked "Read Only" but sometimes when MetaStock terminates abnormally with open files, they will have been modified to Read Only status when you come back into MS.
