TARGETED Email...
You are talking about fighting off the Hackers. Hackers get your
Email address from discussion groups, and other means, and then share
your valid Email address with other hackers. The hackers have their
own web sites for sharing data. At issue are the File Attachments
that they send to people on their Email list. These file attachments
carry virus, and trojans. The virus cause PC destruction, and the
trojans collect information about you and your accounts, then forward
this info secretly across the net to the hackers. They even record
your keystrokes, and screen images, along with the list of sites you
visit. Once a hacker has installed his Trojan, he sees everything on
your PC that you can see.
You have 2 methods of fighting off these hacker Emails. MOST
IMPORTANT: NEVER NEVER NEVER open any file attachment that is
executable. This includes file types EXE, COM, BAT, SCR, DOC ( which
can carry a script ) and others. The only safe file attachments that
can be opened are TXT and Graphic files.... TXT, GIF, JPG, MPG, and
BMP. Bottom line, if the file attachment is not a graphic, then
delete it.
However, if your Email address has been passed around long enough,
then you start to get too many hacker Email's per day and deleting
their mail becomes a real chore. Then it is time to get a new Email
address. This is easy if you prepared for it. NEVER let anyone know
of your BASE Email address since it cannot be changed ( unless you
cancel your account and open a new account ) Always correspond using
your allocated 4 or 5 ADDITIONAL email addresses. Most Internet
providers offer 4 or more EXTRA addresses. Use these for all of your
Email. These EXTRA Email addresses can be easily canceled and re-
assigned with just a few mouse clicks. Bottom line: Never use your
basic Email Address becuase it is cast in stone, and cannot be
changed.
