I suggest you use the Relative Strength Function.
That shows you the performance of one Market over another
market eg IBM over the Dow 30 Index.
I have a good explore on comparative relative strength.
Note: it is not the Relative Strength Index.
Warmest Regards
David Hunt

Subject: [Metastockusers] ROOKIE: Question on qualifying perfromance among
several instruments ...
Hi There,
I am new to MetaStock and I have a question on how to find the leading
sectors over a given time period. (e.g. leading sectors for the last 3
month). I would like to apply the same logic to the leading stock within the
sector.
I have the data of all the indexes (incl. specific sector indexes), thus I
should be able to use that to populate my sector universe. BUT HOW DO I
describe “performance” in MetaStock? I was thinking to measure the
price-difference between the beginning and end of my time-period and then
“benchmark / normalize” that with the S&P.
Is that a valid approach to find the leading sectors? How would I identify
the leading stocks? (Benchmark it to the S&P too?)
Any feedback is highly appreciated.
Thanks & happy trading,
Robert
