Hi Joe!
Yes I want to plot the MA shift forward: on forex each candle is a very
volatile so there's a lot of false signals....
I think this system is only good for intraday moves (for example "scalping"
method on 1 to 5' charts for Forex). I haven't tested in on daily charts.

Are
you sure you aren't looking to plot the MA with the shift forward? The
method of shifting it forward (in which case, your original idea of
ref(c,3,e),-3) is the correct formula) is used to "delay" the moving average a
bit to prevent whipsaws. Bill Williams talks about it in his books and
Tom Joseph of Advanced GET also uses the concept.
