Subject: Angle of ascent/descent
Nick,
I also look at angle of ascent/descent as a factor in my
trading.
Unfortunately, I don't have a way of coding this into a
exploration, but I would like to share with you how I measure the angle in
case you might find it useful.
In my case, I use the Linear <FONT
face=Arial>Regression tool. I look at a stock's price history to
find periods where it went into a steep dive. I draw a linear regression on
the dive. Then I copy the regression line and use this as a kind of benchmark
to measure future dives. To check if this is the "right" angle for this stock,
I superimpose the copy of the line on other steep price dives in the stock's
history. I may adjust the angle slightly to get a better overall fit.
In most cases, when the stock starts to dive at the same
angle--meaning I can apply the previous regression line with a good fit--then
I know a setup is in the making and history is repeating itself.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to translate a
particular line into a code
for and exploration. So if you get some helpful tips,
please pass on the info.
Hope this helps,
Maurice
P.S. I use the same method for measuring the angle of
ascent for a selling climax.

Subject: Angle of
ascent/descent
Hi, could anyone please tell me the best
way to determine the angle of ascent or descent of an indicator? I've
tried comparing the values over the last few bars, but this seems a
clumsy way of achieving it.
I'm interested to detect significant
changes in the angle of ascent / descent.
Many thanks,
