Tirades like this are part of the current bearish atmosphere that has been
building throughout the world this past year. If we're lucky, the WTC
bombing will be the nadir of this cycle and the sight of the US population
pulling together to recover from this catastrophe will inspire a return to
the unbridled optimism and progress of the 90s. If Robert Prechter is to
be believed, this is just the beginning of much more and worse as we
continue the spiral downward into increased crankiness between individuals
and nations. Which of these two alternative you believe should determine
whether you favor the long side or the short side.
