Are you using a router or just a hub? And what make, model is it? When you
shutdown the computer, did you also turn the power off on the router or hub?
I had a special bundle rate with my dsl company: phone, long distance & dsl
all in one monthly rate. The phone line is no problem, and I can have any
number of computers inside my dumper if only I can make them work.
The hub I have is 3Com Office Connect Ethernet Hub-4port model No. 3C16704a
10Mbps RJ-45
I also used 2 rj-45 hatch cables. I used to work fine with my ibm & son's
dell. When I turned the power off on my computer, I don't have to touch the
hub, nothing to turn off there.
After I networked my ibm & son's dell 2 years ago, everything is fine and
there is an empty port for 1 more computer on the hub.
Thanks for the other responses. Will look into
router & winproxy for sure.
