Here's the results of my endeavours so far.
Would like to get in touch with others that are attempting to install
Windows XP on their systems.
Equis does not have anybody testing Metastock with Windows XP...... so I
decided I would have to do it myself:
--------------------
I have worked out a workaround to install Metastock v7.2 under Windows
XP release candidate 1:
Required:
Second PC running Win95/98/ME/2000, with Metastock installed
Environment: Metastock 7.2 EOD
1. Copy the entire program files\equis directory across from the
installed PC to the Windows XP PC's program files directory
2. Copy the following DLLs from the other computer's windows\system
(or windows\system32 if it's win2k):
msfl72.dll
olvi72.dll
ltkrn61n.dll
ltfil61n.dll
lfcmp61n.dll
lfpng61n.dll
eqnotify.dll
implode.dll
dbcapi.dll
patchw32.dll
ss32d25.dll
MetaStockShellExtension.dll
to the WinXP's c:\windows\system32 directory
3. Create a shortcut to the mswin.exe wherever you want it (perhaps
downloader too if you use it).
4. Right click on the shortcut properties, click on Compatibility,
then click Disable Visual Themes (this is done to correct a problem with
the minimise/maximise window buttons).
Start up MS win, let it verify your CD and you're now running Metastock
v7.2 under Windows XP!
-----------------------
Please note : I have found a bug
Whenever I right click on a blank area of a chart, it comes up with an
error in the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library (instruction at
0x75961351 referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be
"read").
