small error. The Supreme court rules that
fair trade laws were unconstitutional, after that the congress passed laws
invalidating retail price fixing.

Something is incorrect here. QP,
TC2000 and others export data to Metastock without any problems and they
don't pay Equis for the privilege. Why can't StockWiz do it as well? If
necessary they could do it by exporting their data into a spreadsheet and then
importing it into Metastock via the Downloader.
I just got this from the Stockwiz site
Easy export to text (ASCII) and Metastock/CompuTrac formats
Back in the early 1950's there was a Federal
law passed that required all manufacturers and merchants to sell at the
same price to all purchasers of the same class ie same price to retailers, to
wholesalers, to individuals. All so called fair trade laws were invalided
by this law. Discount stores proliferated after this law was
passed.
StockWiz should get some competent legal advice on
this. Competent lawyers can be as scarce as competent accountants,
engineers, programmers etc. For a reasonable fee I'll tell them how to
go about finding a suitable lawyer.:) Disclaimer: I am
not a lawyer nor am I giving or selling legal advice.

A 5 january 1999 comment from Steve
Kalhas, i-Soft (Stockwiz)
" A lot of the StockWiz users want to export data
to the Metastock format but Equis refuses to license their library to
us because they said, we are competing with them on the data-sales
front. Given that our data prices are $9.95 per month and theirs are
$30-$70, etc., I think they got a point. "
