I keep a folder called Positions. If I open all of these and then minimize
them, I still get the Alerts. I can then open that folder.

You're almost right: No quote screen. Re alerts, you have to write an
Expert and attach it to the chart you're interested in (Experts have an
alert "tab"). You can only alert on securities you have open charts for
