I profiled a few large applications on Win98 vs Win2000 a few months
ago. Generally win2000 runs the application between 1.5 to 5 times
faster. A compile (which is probably disk-bound) ran 12 times faster on
win2000 over Win98.
Combine that with the fact that Win2000 doesn't crash ... there is not
much of a decision to make.
