I use the "System File Checker" all the time. It is a program in Windows 98
for checking and replacing your changed and corrupted files from the Windows
98 CD or from other sources.
Installing programs seems to be constantly changing and degrading my
existing Windows files.
Go to START/Programs?Accessories/System Tools/System
Information/Tools/System File Checker/Settings
Check the boxes for "Check for changed files" and "Check for deleted files",
etc. Stick in your Win98 CD and you're in business.
Despite my "pampering" I still keep an empty drive to re-install Windows 98
regularly. <G> Such is the wear and tear of installing and un-installing
programs.
Best regards
Walter
