I don't understand all this mumbo jumbo.
I would a suggest a program that takes care of many of the things you
suggest.."Partitition Magic, and their Drive Image for back up. Their
numbers are 800-379-2566 and fax 801-437-4212.

To transfer data does the parallel cable have to have something special
about it or just have the right connectors on both ends?

Jim / Lenny

Another option would be cable connection in Windows (usually in
Accessories/Communications menu), for data files only since it does not
copy system/hidden files. In this way, you will not need an extra soft but
it is a little bit boring to make it works at the first time. You will need
a cable to connect the parallel ports from one computer to the other.

Yes, it is necessary a "special cable". I think it is special because is
"bidirectional".
Look for ** Laplink Cable **, you will find it easly in computer shops.

Jim,

I just did it myself for different reasons, but essentially, I went into =

steps from there. I sent the files to my hard drive, created an email, =
attached and sent them to my own e-mail account, which I then opened on =

Hope this helps,

Jim:
As mentioned by someone else, the easiest way to do a one-time transfer of a
large amount of data is to remove the disk from the PC that holds the data
and install it as a 2nd disk in the receiving computer. You'll have to
change the jumper from Master to Slave (assuming it's an IDE drive that was
the Master in the old PC). This is simple as the jumpers are clearly marked
on most drives.

Plug the IDE cable that currently connects to the primary drive, using the
2nd connector on the cable, into the Slave drive. If your IDE ribbon cable
doesn't have two connectors then you'd need to get one for less than $5.
You don't need to screw the 2nd drive into the PC since you'll be
disconnecting it after the data transfer. Just lay it on the PC on top of
some foam, or other padding, then boot.

The PC will still boot from the Master drive and, assuming the Master has
just one partition, the Slave drive will be seen as drive D:. Your Registry
won't be affected but your CD drive letter will change.

Copy the data then power down; unplug the 2nd disk; set the jumper back to
Master; plug it into the original PC; boot up. Very clean & simple. If
your IDE cable on the receiving PC doesn't have 2 connectors, check the
cable from the old PC. If it has 2, then use it.

Pay attention to the red stripe on one side of the IDE ribbon cable and
connect to the motherboard with red on the same side and (usually) connect
to the disk with the red stripe closest to the power connector. Newer
connectors have locks that prevent it from being connected backwards.

Good luck.

Bill

Neo

I've been using it for over a year now. It's free, automatic updates and
they
notify you when updates are available-usually once every 2 weeks. Plus>They
don't harass you with any 'extra' email

Now that the year is over, I'd like to hear from anyone interested, "What
worked for you in the year 2000?" It was a tough year for many but some of
the things that might interest readers are;

What stock selection techniques worked or didn't work for you?

What features of Metastock are useful or useless?

What are your expectations for the year 2001?

Since this is a learning environment for the sharing and expressing of
ideas, I hope some of you will be free with your thoughts and ideas.

Hi.

Excellent Question.

I like MS 7.01 EOD, easy charting and several of the indicators from the
Quick
list, and also from the Experts. I the Stochastic and RSI tools in Equis
"Expert Advisor.. I use the TUSHAR CHANDE commentary to attain a quick Fib.
0.618% retracement value.

Didn't work is best described as "not used"...

Most challenging technical that Equis has not as yet addressed in arsenal of
tools is ' Elliott Wave' Counts. It could be kept in a simple form as in
investments that meet clear wave count criteria. realizing that 40% of
stocks
are not counted well, or correctly via EW rules.

These are my suggestions.

Allow me to add one more item as a Suggestion.

[1] Add a "Timing Tool" such as quick calculation of a 1.618% retracement
in
"time" from a major low to attain "turing point dates",
could also employ cycles that a computer can more quickly pick up, i.e. I'am
using a 83 day cycle and 135 day.

Thanks.

Thanks for your post.

I would like to see an integration of technical and fundamental analysis.
The
old Windows on Wall Street began exploring this path, before it was bought
out
and put out to pasture. I'd like to see changes in free cash flow,
price/earnings ratios, curretn ratios and debt-to-equity ratios, and future
earnings projections integrated with the techncial charts. This kind of
"rational" analysis would enhance the product and make Metastock a major
force
in the investment community.

I would also like to integrate economic data into the software. MurphyMorris
offers some old data on CD, but a regular integration, let's say, thorugh
the
Reuters service would make this a powerful device.

Technical analysis is important, but it is only one part of a vst puzzle.
The
more robust the product, the better the decision making proces.
