Re: MS Portfolio Manager

I know this is a Metastock forum, and Omnitrader cannot do what what
Metastock can in some areas, but I feel that I should say a kind word about
Omnitrader. I own both products, MS ver &.x Pro and Omnitrader at the EOD
version for stocks.

As has been mentioned, the Portfolio Manager is nice. The real strength of
Omnitrader, IMHO, is for a true beginner to computerized TA to learn how to
create a trading system. Even though I had EOD MS from about ver 6.x, it
was far too compilcated for me to master its subtleties with my 55-70 hour a
week job. Omnitrader was then purchased EOD to learn what was going on.
Then, by tuning off all the tests but specific ones in Omnitrader I was able
to develop an understanding of a trading system. I then ported it into MS
and once running there, tweaked it further. The templates that Omnitrader
had enabled me to learn computerized trading system thinking. I think that
for a beginner, and the low EOD stock model cost (and note, they have given
me free upgrades for several years now!) the product is an excellent tudor
for computerized TA system thinking.

I still run omni trader when I want to try a new combination of indicators
and conditions for entry and exits. It is a good system development tool.
I use Metastock for trading.

Hope this helps! ..................... John
