RE: Leaps vs Equity

Wong:

I checked out the URL you posted and remembered that the other program was
from Mantic (Option Laboratory).
It's amazing how Win 3.11 software is still around. In any case, I've used
OL before and found it useful.

How do you know if an option is cheap or rich ? I think that the pricing
differences between you and the broker can be attributed to different
assumptions. One man's overpriced option maybe another man's bargain.

Thanks,

Hi Marshall:

In fact, the one I'm using is Ken Trester's Option Master, as I previously
posted to the group.

Again, here's the website:
http://www.investorsoftware.com/products/2919.HTM

I find this software quite inexpensive and it serves my purpose.

On the other hand, I had occasion to discuss the calculated theoretical
values of the calls/leaps with my broker, TD Waterhouse, because I felt the
options at the time of discussion should be higher (per the theoretical
value of the option as calculated by Option Masters). Their answer (more
or less): "Large institutions use option valuation software that cost
thousands, or tens of thousands, of dollars, to calculate theoretical
value. Your software costs only $100. What do you expect? ..."

In any event, I'm quite satisfied with this software.

To me, the virtue of underpriced options is only one of the elements that I
consider when doing a trade...

Regards,

Wong
