One other note. I have heard from various sources that programs leak memory.
That is, if you use a program all, or part, of it will remain in RAM and not
be available to other programs. I cannot confirm this. The program does stay
in memory but I believe it is over written as needed. If this leak is true
then it would help to reboot you system from time to time.

Neo,

There is a "memory leak". And there is a "fix" in a Freeware program by
J. Paula named "Rambooster". It is available at:
http://www.sci.fi/~borg/rambooster/index.htm . I've run the program for
over a year now and it does work and keep things optimally running.

It is a carry over from Win 3.11, and was not totally corrected in Win95
or Win98. I run Win 98se, and do not notice too much degradation until
my machine has been on for about 3 days. Basically the problem is that
the stack pointers don't get correctly flushed. It's not so much that
memory
gets full as the pointer stacks get full. For example, if you have the tab
key
set to move to the right in Excel and another program has it set to move
down and these programs are opened and closed repeatedly, the stack
will lose which command structure is current. Rebooting clears this
problem.

Further, I don't know if the same problem occurs in Win2000 or Win ME as I
have not yet worked on those systems.

Hope this helps. ....................................... John
