I'm not sure that I completely understand your posting; however any
article(s) can be deleted from any folder. certain system folders cannot be
deleted, like inbox.

In OE if you want to delete articles in any folder do the following:
1. open the folder
2. highlight the item(s) that you want to delete
3. either press the delete key or click on the delete button on the tool
bar.
4. the item(s) is moved to the "deleted items" folder where it can be
completely deleted from your hard drive.

OE is a bit simple minded but it is adequate and the price is right.

OE does use separate files... but this software is definitely dumb at
managing big archives. For whatever reason, the designer decided it is
useful to scan a folder completely each time the user wants to have a look
at the last window of messages. Typical "brutal force". Oh yes, the user can
still get around this bug by folders multiplication.

OE is the same dumb software for Usenet news readings. Same systematic idiot
folder scan and no way to delete articles in the input folders. This is
really brilliant... now, you must use it since it is modern and
state-of-the-art technology. Always listen to the crowd.
