Here are the tools for you to download free EOD + historical data from
Yahoo.
Try this FREE neat 'BITM' quote download utility. It works quite well as a
stand-alone application...

BITM Instructions:
When downloading data from Yahoo, leave the name open, only fill in the
symbol.After downloading the data, go to MS downloader, convert and choose
as source the so-called csvsec folder.
BITM FAQ:
Q: I downloaded the BITM program and one stock's data fine from
Yahoo. Yet the Metastock's
Downloader program will not convert it to Metastock format.
Any suggestion?
A: After downloading your data fm yahoo, go to the folder
Bitm2. In this folder you will find the data
you just downloaded as a csv. file. You will
also notice there's a subfolder created called csvsec which also
contains the csv-table(s) you just
downloaded. While converting with the downloader
you should use the csv tables from this subfolder
as the source. It will work 100%. As mentioned
before, don't fill in a (optional) security name, only the
symbol in the first screen you get after clicking
download history. If you do fill in a name, the file
that you get back won't be ready for converting in
the downloader.

-Many Tickers are preceded by (included with) the " ^ " cap-character

-The Tickers are twice(2x) mentioned on the one(1x) single line (link)
-It is set to download all available historical data(from 01-01-01) updated
to todays date(03/17/1999)
(I wonder if the Yahoo's date sequence " yy " will get
adjusted to " yyyy " for millenium complience)
-It will then automaticaly return a " xxx.csv " file wich needs a minor
adjusting(eg adding
the Metastocks period "comma-D-comma" ( ,D, ) overhaul in
Excel, adjust the columns, then
save as txt(or csv) file and open in Word for the
overhaul to remove the (any blanc) spaces,
eg for the txt or csv (=users choise) file to be Downloader
ready
-And, this as I haven't tried switching the " a,b,c " parts into for
instance " c,a,b " to see what type
of colom layout it will send or if it will return an error,
but this should not be a problem to try
out at first, otherwise the before mentioned very tiny
overhaul in Excel/Word is required
-There are many symbols available and there are more
indexes available, eg
like funds + stocks + sector symbols, grouped per sector and
many are available
from Exchanges around the globe.
