Options as a Strategic Investment by Lawrence McMillan seems to be
considered the bible of basics. He did a later, more anecdotal book called
McMillan on Options. McMillan started out as a mathematician for Bell Labs,
which strikes me as a hard-to-beat credential, at least for sheer brain
power. He has a website, www.optionstrategist.com, and a couple of
publications, a twice-monthly and a daily, which looks for changes in
option volume or volatility as indicators of stock movements such as
take-overs, better than expected earnings, etc.. and also follows a couple
of basic market-turn indicators, one on adv/decl and the other on
equity-only put/call ratio. He does seminars as well.

Option Volatility and Strategic Pricing by Sheldon Natenberg is also
considered pretty important, though it's more involved in the finer points
of the math involved.

I think you mentioned an interest in options some months ago. I'll look
forward to your posts on this.
