If you are a home-user(<5 wkst) , than wait for the May2000 LAST ever on Win9x(FAT32)
based follow up release: Win2000ME.
Being a home-user you will not get hassled on "huge capacity hardware" that is always
required with the NT versions, of which 2000PRO is no exception.
One thing that I have always hated about NT versions is all of the jiff-jaff that has to be loaded,
which slows down the boot process+any session instances processes, eg since it is also
to be kept loaded all of the time for the "unwanted" processes to remain active.
Like driving a truck when a car will do very well, eg thus wheras the Win9x versions didn't
use up System and User Resources all that much.
On the other hand,Win2000PRO is has the slick+stunning as a baby(e) Look.
That's why the new ME will have that "2000" look and feel to it as well.
If you are a small buisiness user (>5 wkst) you can considder the last Win2000PRO.
This Windows version requires much more larger capacity extensive hardware, is also blundly
designed as such, eg to accomadate a "business with an employer (watching) and the employees
(working), and for security much better than Fort Knox AND the ECB's multiple headquarters.
WIN 2000ME vs WIN 2000PRO (put below in a what simple manner):
And now since all this security has to be loaded, NT-processes that have to be watched and
automaic maintnance processes and execution processes having to be processed and you'll have
a reason or two for the minimum as to why PRO is slower than ME.
Even at work I will vote for the latest ME since that my work is not driving the above mentioned Trucks.

Ton Maas
