1) When using 6.52EOD the Symbol file update works as follows:
Manualy download the Symbol file(self extracting exe)
     http://www.equis.com/customer/support/files/download/Symbol652.exe
Then extract its contents Symbol32.dta file to the "C:\Equis\DlWin" folder.

2) Did your original 6.52 file(Symbol32.dta) got converted to a 7.01 version
when you upgraded to v7.01? Have you tried manualy(see #1) downloading
     a 7.01 version? (eg perhaps the Symbol701.exe)

3) Or if you hadn't had one installed in the above folder prior to upgrading, shouldn't
you have one installed first, now, upfront ? (eg how else can you "update")

4) Have you installed your MSK v7.01 to a folder not below the root "C:" folder?
If you've installed to a folder below the Program Files folder, than expect some
programs to have problems with the 'space' digit between Program and Files,
(eg even Word and Excel on opening a file can stumble on this minor bug).

5) Have you written to Support?
     Support@xxxxxxxxx
