Thanks for your emails
This was just uploaded to Simtel.Net ... although used for text, you'll see
that it can be used in Excel. Obviously it's got a lot more power than the
old eye-hand technique <G>.
Best regards
Walter

compar10.zip Compare two bodies of text/database data
Compare allows you to easily and quickly find differences between two
bodies of text (files). When found, discrepancies can be automatically
fixed, or simply highlighted. This is great for cases when the file
that's returned must match the file that was sent, down to the last
letter. As we know, an added "s" here, or a deleted "0" there can mean
a lot. Small changes can mean big differences, are easy to make but
hard to find, especially in a ten page document. Compare makes finding
those differences easy.
Compare also tracks down differences in database fields, whether two
fields in one database or one field in two databases. Compare gives
you the ability to specify various criteria, and processes fields based
on those criteria. For example: If data in File A is equal/not
equal/greater than/less than/before/after data in File B/entered data,
delete data in File B/A; replace data in Field A/B with data in Field
B/A/whatever; or export fields in File A/B to a file you select.
Imagine having eight thousand rows of data in one file, and three
hundred in another, and the task was to get rid of duplicate records.
The flexibility of Compare makes it easy for you to do this. Since
spreadsheet applications, such as Lotus 1-2-3 or Microsoft Excel, make
it easy to save a spreadsheet as a .dbf file, Compare can, in effect,
work on your spreadsheet data.
Special requirements: VB5 runtime files must be downloaded from this
