Iden,
Admittedly the documentation is weak on Debry's website, but
item 14 (below) suggests that you can build these comma separated
value files in the directory structure shown below and the data
can then be seamlessly plotted by pushing the scroll backwards
and forwards key(s) in Metastock. Now these files may or may
not be difficult to build/update on a nightly basis. I sent
a suggestion to Debry.com mentioning that some of us may find
that a utility to build/update these files to be helpful. Now
I do not own the EOD toolkit so I do not know the real limitations
of the functionality.
I think there are many Quotes Plus customers on this list that
would welcome the ability to plot fundamental data in Metastock
that would be as easy and seamless as possible. Perhaps the
developers at Debry.com would want to provide this type of
functionality in a future release without requiring the building
of the text files. Perhaps we could even spec out data access
methods that the developers at Debry (or elsewhere) could develop
that could be used to deliver data to Metastock functions so that we do
not have to be file maintainers and can focus on our main task
of making money in the markets. The data management issue is
very distasteful and I, for one, would like to see someone address
this issue head-on. Equis does not either have the resources to
address this problem or chooses not to address a database interface;
this appears to be a splendid opening for third-party developers to
help us, the customers, with our main task.
Thanks,
Ron Stockstill
DLL FUNCTIONS
These will show up in MetaStock at the Paste Functions dialog.
14. GetTextFile - Retrieves data out of a comma-separated text file. The
first parameter is the column heading. The second parameter is the file
name
(if this is blank, it uses the data folder + symbol + ".CSV").

Hmm....
What is this trick about? Is this a way to get around the pathetic file
folder
structure weirdness of Metastock? Where is this documented?
TIA
