You can save yourselves a lot of hassles, by Printing the Name+Formulas first to text-files, eg prior to
upgrading.
1. Install the MS Generic Text-driver(WIN9x SetUp CdRom, and install as a Print to File printer).
2. Print all Names+Formulas from the Indicator Builder (Tools|Indicator Builder...|Print...|Name+Formulas
and select the correct driver, eg the Print to File-driver).
3.Then check the saved text-file to make sure that all Names+Formulas contents are also printed
(here prior to the last upgrade 6.52-->7.01, it some how forgot to print a few lines per a few lndicators).
4. Do the same for the Explorer, Experts+SysTest.
5. Then Copy the entire default C:\Equis folder to/onto another Temp Folder/Drive.
6. Upgrade and recheck that the Formulas etcetera are all converted properly (eg compare notes with and use
the text files for any additions).
7. Then: {printed below is also my experience upgrading 6.52-->7.01}
******Formula Converting/Organizer
Also this time around with my last conversion this was not the case(as a few years ago it was also not the
case when converting from 6.00-->6.50). "Disk Full"-error is what I got first, which was true, and I therfore
clicked OK and let the setup create a Ms70form.dta file. After completion I quickly replaced this file by
a renamed copy of the former Ms65form.dta, opened MSK and got the message that an "older version
Indicators" file was found and if I wanted to convert this file to 7.0. After applying OK it converted in order,
except for the known indicator issue of the nested "Embedded Formulas", eg the ones that reference
other formulas via the formula Call Function: Fml("indicatorname") and the Fml("indicatorname, partname").
******Start Up
Whenever starting up MSK, the main window will now always open in the from the "NotePad" known halve
displayed window-size. Also never centered, but (like NotePad) on opening, tiled from up-left to right-down.
The DL program does not have this display-bug.
******Formula Names automatically get a "(2)" notation
Whenever clicking the Copy function in the Indicator Builder, the (2) notation is added at the end of a Formula's
Name, indicating a 2nd version of it or that it is a "duplicate". I am pleased with this, since that now any by
program created
Formula Names will never be seen by program as "this formula already exists" whilst one
has had Deleted the Indicator several months before(somehow this name is then not fully deleted from the dta
file) and will not see any errors stemming from this bug.
******Program Folders
The program installed to the Default C:\Equis folder and the C:\MetaStock Data and C:\MetaStock\Samples
folders were added, replacing the previous C:\Equis\Data and C:\Equis\Data\Samples folders.
Else, and so far, haven't noticed any hic-ups or problems anyone else are having.
{This is using Win9x}.
