Dear Sir,
>
> I use Metastock since a couple of weeks now and I
have a few questions:
>
> I will try to describe my different
problems:
>
> - is it possible in one way or another to do the
following thing:
> I have in metastock one chart loaded on which I apply a
certain template
> with different indicators. The data visualised on the
screen are the date
> till the day before. I want today during the opening
hours of the Nasdaq
> manually add the actual value of the share that I'm
following and looks how
> the charts are changing. Is that possible? Is it
possible by shifting the
> close price chart from Metastock to excell and
then introduce the value of
> today at the end of the excell file while
the closing chart is automatically
> adapted and also all the other
indicators.

The Downloader will let you enter current day's data
(rightclick the Price Indicator
for the Context Menu and click Edit Data,
enter the data in the Downloader,
click to Close and Save the changes.
MetaStock will automaticaly update the Chart).
Using Excel, you can OLE link
data back to MetaStock, but only up to the last present
date in a Chart's
Downloader file will get displayed. Any dates after will not get
displayed.

> - when you create a function which is builded out
different functions, is it
> possible in one way or another to give every
function within this function a
> different color.

It is a New
Feature in MetaStock 7.0 (EOD).{See the GIF-file above}.

To change the color of the individual plots of a multiple plot
indicator,
plot the indicator, then change the properties of each
plot.

At the end of the Formula, each plot must
be represented by an Expression.

Multiple Expressions must be separated by a semi-colon " ;
".

> - when you have created a default template that you want to
use with every
> stock in the future, is there a possibility that you can
scroll from one
> stock to the other using this default template or do I
need everytime to
> aplly this default template.

Just replace the
standard C:\Equis\MsWin\Charts\Default.mwt by a self created
new template
Default.mwt. (Remove the old one and replace by the new one).
To create a new
Template:
-Open a Chart or several Charts
-Click New Layout and add all
these Charts to the New Layout
-Click File|Save As and save as this new
layout as a Template
(in the Save As window click the arrow to switch
the File Type save options)

> - is there a way to expand the
timeline period on the right side of your
> last date for which you have
data. For example I have stockdata for a period
> starting on June 1999
till 18 july 2000 and I want to obtain a timeline till
> october
2000.

At the bottom of the Chart, rightclick the X-axis(time
scale).
Click the Margins TAB and on this page change 10 to 100 or 100 to
200, etc.

> - the downloader: I download the daily quotes from
the Nasdaq and NYSE from
> Internet. Afterwards I have to convert the
Nasdag data to Metastock data. I
> have to specify which file has to be
converted and where it has to be saved.
> Afterward I do the same thing
for the NYSE data. Is there a possibility to
> do this automatically. This
means is it possible to create different
> conversion methods: one for the
Nasdaq, one for the Nyse and to store this.

Automate this type of stuff
easely by using the ScriptIT or AutoIt programs
(see my homepage for
details).

> Kind regards.
>
> Daniel Cuypers
>
