1. Any such leap in armament technology would
probably be kept very secret. Just this kind of announcement will have the
world's top spies trying to get the details.

3. Assuming that each cartridge weighs about 3

 LIMITED
-------------------

HOMEX -

 Price

METAL STORM DEMONSTRATES REVOLUTIONARY WEAPONS
 SYSTEM.

International ballistics technology company, Metal Storm
 Limited,
today announced it had successfully completed its first major
 test
firing demonstration in the US, of its revolutionary, 100%
 electronic
weapons systems.

Senior personnel from the Pentagon and
 US Armed Forces viewed the
secured firing demonstrations at the Blossom
 Point range outside
Washington DC on July 19 and 20. Metal Storm's
 technology, which has
no known equivalent world-wide, and which some
 leading defence
figures have described as the most significant breakthrough
 in
ballistics over the past 100 years, is being closely evaluated by
 the
US Defense Department as a "new age" addition to its armory.

In
March 2000 the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) -
the body
responsible for milestone defence projects including the
Stealth Fighter,
M16 Assault Rifle and the JSTARS radar - contracted
a consortium containing
Metal Storm to develop a prototype advanced
sniper rifle based on the
technology. Mr Mike O'Dwyer, CEO of Metal
Storm, said that the test firings
 provided US defence representatives
with their first viewing of Metal
 Storm's prototype weapons systems
including:

* a six barrel 9mm
system with an electronically variable burst
firing rate as high as 240,000
rounds per minute. This system is a
smaller version of a 36 barrel
prototype which has earlier fired a
burst of 180 rounds at a rate exceeding
 one million rounds per
minute.

* A 40mm test bed which fires stacked
grenades at rates as high as
20,000 rpm per barrel, which is being
 developed as an area-denial
system to replace anti-personnel land mines as
 well as a range of
other strategic military and civil
 applications.

* A totally electronic specialist police and military
 personalised
handgun which is being developed to also incorporate
 a
less-than-lethal function. There is increased safety with
 these
weapons because their all electronic features will allow
 only
authorized users with the correct micro chip to use
 them.

According to Mr O'Dwyer, several potential applications were
 already
generating significant interest within US defence circles,
 including
an anti-personnel landmine replacement, a close-in weapon system
 for
ship self-defence and fire fighting applications for civilian
 and
military use. He said the US Government's stated objective to
 phase
out anti-personnel landmines provided an important
 commercial
opportunity for Metal Storm's technology.

"Based on the
latest round of 40mm development and testing in
Australia, we are closer to
making a Metal Storm Area Denial Weapon
System a military reality," he
 said.

The technology will be formally introduced in the US at a
 press
conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC on Thursday
 27
July. The company also announced it had recently signed an
 agreement
with the Bank of New York to enable trade of Metal Storm
 American
Depositary Receipts (ADRs) in the US in the near
 future.

FURTHER
