Precision Issues

Rather than continue to overwhelm the list with technical discussion about
floating point precision problems, I will finish with these statements.
Beyond this, if anyone wants to continue a civilized discussion of the
problems and possible solutions (both Equis and user solutions), I will
continue through private email.

In the meantime:
1. MetaStock uses single-precision floating point numbers. Some customers
have complained that this precision is not adequate for their analysis.
2. We will once again CONSIDER moving to double-precision floating point
numbers in an attempt to solve these problems for our power users.
3. IF we choose to move to double-precision, we will attempt to do so in a
way that minimizes the impact on those of our users who are sensitive to the
additional computer resource demands.
4. Thanks to everyone for their passionate input, even those who like to
attack me personally.
5. Equis is trying to produce software that the MAJORITY of users find
useful. While we will continue to try and keep the "power users" happy with
our product, we refuse to do this at the expense of the usability and
performance demanded by the average user. Believe it or not, the demands of
the novice vs. the power user are different. We will try to keep everyone
happy.

With those facts stated, I have posted my last comments regarding this
issue. Let's give the rest of the list a break from the flood.

Thank you.
