My take on the DRAM Shortage...
Has anyone else tried to buy DRAM lately? I tried to get a PC133 256MB CL2
DIMM and they wouldn't even take my order for 2 weeks because of the back
log. Now I don't know for sure that there is a shortage of DRAM in the
market or not but I know that there is a shortage of PC133 256MB CL2 DIMMS.
Could it be that there is not a shortage of the old stuff and there is a
shortage of the good stuff? Maybe trading off of a rumor should include
buying straddles.

It's good to see the list's mother back and contributing absolutely nothing
again.
Mark just tends to babble and take shots at anyone here he feels like
attacking. He is a shill trying to peddle his "language" I think, but with
his personality, I'd be surprised if he could sell anything. Again, I'm
waiting for him to make a positive contribution to the list, but I've been
waiting for a couple of years and it hasn't shown up yet.
As I put in my email, we're holding this stock for a while in case this DRAM
rumor of a Q4 shortage is real. Since I have no idea whether it is or not,
I'm buying some for my own account. In case anyone wants to follow this
trade (since Mark hinted we were out at the high of the day), we're long MU
at 60 1/2. We're also long TSM at $28 3/8 (I think, going from memory here)
and we'll hold these for a while, regardless of our other signals.
In terms of becoming a professional trader, my recommendation was for the
person keep his day job and work on his trading methodology on a part-time
basis. Unless you have deep pockets or trade other people's money, or are a
broker yourself, I don't recommend this as a career choice. Or, there is
always the possibility that Mark might grow up and the list gadfly position
might become open. :)
And finally, since Mark seems to think we might be in the biz, please don't
anybody send me any money, please! And no requests for us to manage your
accounts, that's Mark's business I guess and he doesn't like the
competition. Anything like this would ruin my amateur standing and then the
list would be subject to many more of his rants using poor grammar and
spelling.

Hello James,
JP> Hello Guy,
JP> Nice trade on MU yesterday. Although things are a litle rocky taday it
seems
JP> to be holding nicely.
yes up 9/16 on the day, of course i expect Guy was able to finesse a
exit on the high of the day.
JP> When you say the rumour on the street in Silicon Valley is that there is
JP> going to be a shortage of DRAM, what do you mean? Word of mouth from
people
JP> you know? Are there any reasons that people think there is going to be
a
JP> shortage? I read a few weeks ago thatToshiba contracted out a huge
amount
JP> DRAM even though they are big manufacturers. The reason was they
JP> anticipated not having enough DRAM. I'm curious if there is any pretext
to
JP> these rumours.
yea i just call Steve Jobs at Apple today (we have a joint trading
account) and he said he'd not heard anything, anyway the supply is
very liquid right now so it seemed to him. my son who still lives and
works in silicone valley (Sunnyvale) as a matter of fact, yes i
was once a texas relocated valley guy myself dudes - he said memory
has no long or short term problems other than the occasional rumor
that seems to be driving the markets these days. remember the guy who
was recently prosecuted for spreading rumors for sending out false
and misleading information about a stock he owned? humm similarities
abound don't they. what next will this list turn into the
unsubstantiated stock rumor list?
just wondering how i get in on the rumor before the guy spreading it
buys his stock position in it?
i'll subscribe how much is it?
humbeling waiting for answers.. mark brown
JP> Best regards,
