Thank you for your interest in eCharts! eCharts is a technical analysis and
charting system designed to help make objective invenstment decisions. This
program uses mostly technical analysis techniques and can be used for most
types of trading. It is also highly configurable and can be customized to
your preferred method of trading.
Some of the features of eCharts include:
Full sized charts for each technical indicator. No more squinting at a bunch
of small charts jammed onto a single screen.
Automatic detection and display of divergences. Divergences are the best
indicators in technical analysis and eCharts is one of the only programs
that detect and display them automatically.
The ability to completely customize and save parameters used in calculating
indicators.
A sophisticated rules-based trading system that allows you to create trading
systems based on your style of trading.
The ability to add trading signals from the rules system to your charts.
The ability to hide and show only the charts you use.
The ability to select which provider historical data is downloaded from. If
one site is down or running slow, you can simply use another!
The ability to specify a custom time frame using your own start and end
dates.
Links to a number of well-known financial sites.
A comprehensive readme file that contains basic technical analysis/charting
concepts as well as trading guidelines.
Automatic free updates if you send me your email address. (Your email
address will not be used for any other purpose, guarenteed.)
When I wrote this program I tried to create something that (at least
partially) filled the gap between what is freely available on the internet
and the full-featured (but expensive) commercial packages. eCharts provides
some useful functions not found in free programs, and a couple not found
even in the expensive commercial packages. And the price is right: free!
If you send me your email address, I will add it to my mailing list and will
send you updates and new versions as they become available. You will never
need to be concerned about whether you have the most current copy! This is a
service I've yet to see provided by anyone. And I will not use your email
address for any purpose other than mailing updates.
Screen Shots
Click on the following links to view screen shots of eCharts. These screen
shots have been compressed so the image quality is a bit blurry, but they do
give you an idea of what the program looks like.

Donations
eCharts is free software but donations are gladly accepted. I am one person
who wrote this program on my own time. While I am happy to provide this
program free of charge, donations to this, and other programs like it, help
support free software on the net. I also promise that I will not beg you for
money if you send me your email address for automatic updates.
License Agreement
eCharts is licensed software. You must agree to the conditions of the
license agreement to use eCharts.
Requirements
All you need to run eCharts is a copy of Excel 97, an internet connection,
and a program to unzip the zip file.
Installation
Click on the following link to download the eCharts zip file and then uzip
the the zip file into a directory of your choosing. I would recommend
unzipping the program into the "My Documents" folder if you're a win 95/98
user or the /winnt/profiles/user/personal folder if you're an NT user. The
workbook and all it's files must be in the same directory.

There are many programs you can use to unzip the file. If you've ever
downloaded from the internet then you probably already know how to do it.
Since there are far too many zip programs in use, I'll leave the unzipping
to you.
The readme.txt file is pretty comprehensive and covers not only the eCharts
program, but basic technical analysis and charting concepts including
trading guidelines.
