I learned about these application "eggs" from a computer television show
early last year. Many programs have this hidden feature. I'm not sure
why. Might be because the programmer teams wanted to include something
fun in a business program. I don't know how much more space this adds to
the app., but it's probably not that much. Microsoft, in particular,
tends to use DLL's already included in your O/S. With the way HDD's are
doubling in size every 6 months, it's doesn't seem that critical anymore
(plus the fact a CD-ROM can hold 650 MB's).

BTW, did you people know that IBM's coming out with a 70 GB IDE drive
next month?

Also, Seagate announced last week they have been able to increase the bit
platter density for their HDD's by an incredible amount. So, expect HDD
capacity to continue increasing over the next 2 years.

Yes, it's a wonderful time to be alive.

There's a web site which, if you pay, will tell you about all the eggs in
different applications. I forgot the URL (guess it's not that
important). If I happen across it, I'll send it to the list. There's
also a book which covers this subject. As with Technical Analysis, if
you want complete information, you must buy the book, I guess. Has
anyone accessed the eggs in the MS Office Pro 2000 suite yet?

Daniel.
