Metastock Downloader

Can anyone help me with this.
When I try to use the downloader to update files with the following
format

19990309, 161.72,161.725, 161.7124, 161.721
19990310, 161.73,161.745, 161.7014, 161.725

I errors in the downloader convert command because of the date.
I have to manually take off the "19" changing the format to 990309
before it works without a problem.
Same thing with 2000, I always have to manually run it through excel
stripping away the "20"

Any easy solution to this problem.
