TaskZip v1.1 -- Win9x
TaskZip is a system agent that will automatically archive specified
files and folders into a single zip file (PKZip compatible format).
Select the files and folders you wish to archive, the frequency of that
backup (daily, specific weekdays, or weekly, plus the time of day) and
TaskZip will carry out those jobs for you. It has an option for
automatic startup at system boot which is pretty much essential if you
want it to work as a system agent. The interface is reasonably easy to
use and there is a good array of Helpfiles of various types. We were a
little disappointed that there wasn't some 'essential' backups included
as a "quick add" function (ie a button to, say, automatically add the
Registry files to the current backup file). Yes, you can add any files
you like to the lineup but some, like all the INI and PIF files, might
not be obvious to some users. There could also be a button to globally
add all DOC files (or some other extension, say XLS) to the backup list.
Most users want much the same types of files backed up and we feel that
much could be done to make this program more user friendly in those
areas. Having said that, we were still most impressed with TaskZip. It
can backup the nominated files in either compressed format (PKZip
compatible) or uncompressed. There are also options for either a full
backup or an incremental backup (only adds the files changed since the
last full backup). As it is, this is a great program, but it could
easily be turned into a brilliant one. We look forward to seeing
subsequent versions. Access this 1.51MB download from:
