Ton,
>From you post, I understand that MSFL is a must, but the using MSFL:
1) Do you have to program all indicators back into your favorite language VB
(i.e. programming a new trading program, except for access security prices
or
2) Can you access Metastock 7 using ActiveX or OLE automation, start
explorations in MEtastock and get results back into the VB program ?

I'm using 6.5 and for the new "Tool-kit"(MSX-extensions) cannot actualy
fully qualify to give you an apropiate answer (very much can on a distance
tho).
I haven't seen it "in action", eg in running order or have "worked with it",
but
so far (and also for the moment) cannot see it being used that much(if
ever).
It is supose to be an "extension" to the "formula-language" itself and not
to the GUI, and is for some that want to program in PB (eg it is not an
EXTENSION,
being added, but another LIMITATATION is being added), for as the extension
is so darn right LIMITED.
Perhaps welcomed by the PB'ers(of which there are roughly 300 in the world).
But not by me. (Again for the moment+) my inexperience/handicap/inability
not ever wanting to learn to program in PB).
Since VB is a compatible and a true standard Windows programming language,
and that I'm a "Windows"-man, I will not go out of my way learning another
foreign langauge anymore. Metastock-program's own parculiar habitats + its
formula language were the welknown "bubble drip to an edge full bucket".
The purchase of 7.0 will be "a must", only if you don't want to work with
an older version of the program, eg keep it up to date+for compatability
sakes,
but for the "very small+very limited extension" that has been added, you
will not
go out and purchasing it.
The money is far better spend on purchasing the MSFL file + its license
agreement.
The MSFL is the EXTENSION that should have been FREE-ly added to the
program,
and many years back.
Eg, any Windows-comp. programs has the MSFL-features standard build-in, on
purchase/when shipped.
With the MSFL library file, you will than finaly have a true Windows
compatible
version (except for the DL, which program is still very much a DOS program
packed-in-a-Windows-coating) and you can than finaly by-pass the standard
factory buid-in program limitations:
a. You will now have the missing TRUE extension (eg many programming
languages
can now finaly work and communicate with the program, incl PB !!!!)
b. You can now finaly bypass all limitations that are -by the factory-
standard been
build-in the program
c. You can now finaly extend the GUI and create the (thus still needed)
workarounds
to have a somewhat more user-definable program
d You can automate more in+with the program and its "features"

Ton Maas
