Re: JPGs being smaller than GIFs
That's true under two conditions:
1.) It's a continuous tone image (i.e. a photograph, not a drawing)
2.) The program uses the compression option (there are several levels
of compression available in JPEG including "none".)
MetaStock doesn't qualify in either way. The charts it creates is
ideal for the "Run Length Encoding" compression that GIF uses and
therefore GIF is a far superior format for charts.
Equis probably didn't support GIF because they didn't want to pay
Unisys for a GIF license.
BTW: If you use the "File/Save As HTML" command, be sure to check the
size of your JPG closely. Metastock will often save incomplete JPG
files for seemingly random reasons. It's not related to memory, system
resources, or disk fragmentation I can tell you that.
