Gerard,
you must convert the JPEG to a 256 color GIF. This will reduce
it 10x smaller. If you want to continue using the HTML file which
Metastock created, you can rename the GIF file you created back to JPEG.
I do this and when I upload the 2 files to my ISP space, both browsers
still read the page correctly. One of my charts can be found at:
http://www.ixpres.com/horizon/metastock/IIX-ROC.htm
The reason why you rename the GIF back to JPEG is because it fools the
MetaStock HTML file into loading the new GIF format even though it was
converted. The Metastock HTML was programmed for a JPEG file.
I believe Metastock won't use GIF because it's copyrighted by CompuServe
and CS wants money (who doesn't ) for their format. So rather
than have nothing, they gave us the freely distributable JPEG format.
To convert JPEG charts, I use XNVIEW. It was free when I downloaded
it months ago. I don't know if it's still available. It works
pretty good. When you convert using XNVIEW, I believe you choose
256 color GIF "Adaptive", not "Dither". If the colors don't come
out right, use the other. I still have the 273 KB ZIP file.
If you want it, just email me.
Daniel.

Saving a chart in HTML -format results in a file
of about 300kB in
jpeg-format. Is there a way to reduce the length of the file
in a way it
gets a more acceptable size
to mail this to other persons?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
